Fred's interest in wine sprung to life while pursuing a communications degree in San Francisco.
A traditional university classroom and textbook wine education quickly lead to wine country opportunities.
Choosing not to brag about degrees and credentials, he quickly gives credit to those wine makers and vineyard
managers who have given him a more "hands on education."
Fred extensive knowledge and appreciation for wine also comes from a long association with the Oregon wine
industry where he is respected for being largely "self taught."
Extended visits to other wine making regions including France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Chile, Argentina and
New Zealand have further expanded Fred's expertise.
While continuing to host very popular & entertaining wine country tours and recently celebrating his 500th tour,
his "A Nose For Wine" wine education classes are considered the most comprehensive and relaxed and
are enthusiastically referred by wineries. His educational wine tours were the first in the state and are
always full and.....fun!
Proud of the accomplishments of the Oregon wine makers and grape growers, he is a passionate and
entertaining speaker and wine event host where ever his is invited.
